The New York Islanders are considering their options when it comes to creating a third jersey. So, as a loyal Islanders fan, I took it upon my myself to whip up a few designs. Take a look and tell me what you think.

A look at a near-final proposal.

DESIGN: NYI-00A
This one actually originates from a late 70s Isles jersey design that had a shoulder coloring that cut down onto the chest of the jersey. The other main feature is the black, of course. I wanted to try my hand at a trendy jersey, more specifically, a black one. So, this is the result. My nod to tradition is maintaining the original logo.

I used my "four quarters" logo on this one, while using the non-traditional grey/silver jersey base. After using my logo as the main crest, I felt putting the original as shoulder patches was appropriate.

On this one, I did a lot of style borrowing. The stripes across the chest is obviously inspired by the Habs' jersey, while the shoulder "bar" is from the old Blues sweater. Then I put my "four quarters" logo on it, to give it an updated, new look.

This one was sort-of inspired by the proposed new Nordiques jersey that the club introduced just before moving to Denver. I like the "snow-topped" look of the jersey, as the white and silver sets off the orange and blue nicely. This one used my first lighthouse logo as the main crest, with the original logo on the shoulders.

This was a result of wondering why orange isn't a big part of any jersey. It certainly makes for a visually-grabbing look. Again, the lighthouse logo is there, with the orange ring working off of the orange shoulders.

This design is similar to NYI-00D, with some changes that make a big difference. Almost all orange has been removed from the non-logo elements, creating a darker look, while a white waistband helps separate the pants and sweater. This jersey features my second lighthouse design, which is a more traditional looking creast, with a more simplistic layout.

I wanted to experiment with the color blending look of the Canucks' jersey, and this is what came out of it. I like it. And the blending isn't overpowering thanks to the white shoulders. The lighthouse shoulder patches, from the ill-conceived "fisherman" jersey, return to top off this new look.

Not exactly sure what to say about this one. It was an experiment. I remembered hating the old Leafs and Sens jerseys with the striped sleeves, but I thought it was mainly because the entire look of those jerseys was ugly. So I tried my hand at tiger-striped sleeves on an Isles' jersey. Mixing them with the blended torso may have been one step too far. But I've seen worse.

When stripes attack. There's six different stripes on this one, which would cause some serious warping effects on TV. Overall though, it's a pretty clean look, with the first lighthouse logo on the chest, and the original logo centered on the shoulder stripes, which separate the arm numbers nicely.

This is probably one of my favorites. The diagonal stripes on the hips and arms help counteract the fact that this is basically a very "plain" design. The stripes are the only design element on the jersey, while the crest is the second lighthouse logo, and the shoulder patches are the "four quarters" logo. Very straightforward, almost traditional.

I have to say, I like this one. Made to order for a request, this is basically a reversal of NYI-00A. Looks a bit "tougher" with the black with orange trim.

Another from the "hip" file: This black jersey uses color accents to give the jersey a bit of form. The black base sets off the "four quarters".

Another request. Orange is the key here, though the blue bands and V on the torso give it a feel of movement.
